Tradition and digital transformation go hand in hand
- Delaviuda Confectionery Group signs an agreement with MAVAL to implement Siemens Opcenter APS technology (formerly known as Preactor) at its two plants: Sonseca (Spain) and Artenay (France).
- The project aims to deliver a solution that optimises production planning to improve productivity.
Delaviuda CG is currently the leading company in the nougat, bars and confectionery sector, commercialising its products in more than 70 countries. The group serves large retail, B2B, travel retail, and Christmas gift baskets, among others, under three brands: Delaviuda, El Almendro and Artenay Bars. With an annual production capacity of 16,300 tonnes, Delaviuda CG operates 37 production lines across its two manufacturing sites in Spain (34) and France (3).
“Building a sweeter world” is the mission guiding every step of this family-owned company which, with almost a century of history, faces three major strategic challenges for the coming years: internationalisation, de-seasonalisation and innovation (reinventing 21st-century Christmas).
Investment to improve operational efficiency has been a constant for the company
We can see it from the first actions back in 1992 with the major technological renovation of the Sonseca plant, to the present day, when the company has created a new digitalisation model whose pillars consider product and production, but also people, the customer and the business.
Within this transformation model and Delaviuda CG’s strategic framework, the Planning team had a top priority: implementing a technology solution for production sequencing and planning that is easy to use and integrates with the group’s ERP.
To take this step on its digital transformation journey, the company trusted MAVAL as its technology partner and Siemens Opcenter APS as a state-of-the-art tool.
Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS – Preactor)
Opcenter APS (formerly known as Preactor) is the market-leading solution for advanced production planning and scheduling. It will enable Delaviuda CG to improve productivity while taking care of four pillars of its digital transformation framework:
PRODUCT/PRODUCTION. Optimised thanks to APS’s finite capacity planning, which quickly handles changing planning scenarios and can simulate different constraint-based scenarios, including repair and cleaning times, to reduce unproductive periods.
PEOPLE. Benefiting from working with a single source of data and a single tool.
CUSTOMERS. With solid, real-time information from Opcenter APS, it is possible to adjust and control delivery times in detail.
BUSINESS. The solution improves communication between departments (sales and production) through ERP integration; it is also scalable and supports the internationalisation and growth strategy.
