Opcenter Execution Process 2601: more intelligence and efficiency for the process industry

This version adds artificial intelligence capabilities, improved information management and new tools to accelerate the digitalisation of the process industry

With Opcenter Execution Process 2601, Siemens continues to evolve its MES/MOM platform with new features aimed at optimising operations, simplifying system management and increasing the productivity of users and integrators.

Key new features include AI-based tools, new monitoring capabilities, improvements in data management and maintenance, and more advanced integration with Low-Code technologies.

Highlights of Opcenter Execution Process 2601

1. Artificial intelligence for faster access to knowledge

One of the most interesting additions in this version is Knowledge Assistant Copilot, a tool that lets users query the product documentation in natural language. Users get precise answers, can navigate directly to the information sources and discover related content without complex manual searches.

Siemens is also introducing EWI Copilot, an application that generates electronic work instructions from PDF documents using configurable language models. This capability helps reduce documentation authoring times and improves the consistency of the information used on the shop floor.

2. Better information management and maintenance

Efficient data administration is key to any MES solution. That is why Opcenter Execution Process 2601 brings improvements to data clean-up and archiving processes.

Clean-up schedules for temporary data and system tables can now be configured more flexibly, and retention periods can be defined to suit each organisation's needs. Clean-up rules can also be run manually to validate their behaviour before scheduling them automatically.

In addition, archiving processes are optimised through paging mechanisms that make it easier to handle large volumes of information and help maintain system performance.

3. Statistical quality control built into operations

Version 2601 extends quality capabilities with automatic SPC (Statistical Process Control) calculation applied to day-to-day production.

This feature enables continuous monitoring of critical process parameters, identifying trends and detecting deviations before they affect the quality of the final product. As a result, production and quality teams can act faster and base their decisions on objective data.

For process industry companies, where product consistency, regulatory compliance and waste reduction are key, having built-in SPC capabilities is a major step forward in the control and continuous improvement of operations.

4. Greater visibility of system status

Detecting issues early is essential to ensure operational continuity.

The new monitoring features make it possible to supervise applications built with Low-Code technologies and check the status of external data sources. Teams can therefore quickly identify connectivity, availability or performance problems before they affect operations.

The option to use remote RabbitMQ instances also provides greater architectural flexibility and makes it easier to distribute resources in complex industrial environments.

5. Integration and security ready for corporate environments

Another relevant improvement in Opcenter Execution Process 2601 is support for standard authentication protocols such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and SAML. This makes integration with corporate identity management systems easier and simplifies the implementation of unified access strategies.

The result is more efficient management of users and permissions, aligned with the security requirements of today's industrial organisations.

6. New capabilities for Low-Code development

Siemens continues to strengthen its commitment to Mendix, adding new tools to simplify application development and maintenance.

Version 2601 improves integration with Mendix Studio Pro, makes it easier to configure applications from Solution Studio and enables new OData endpoints to expose functionality more quickly and easily. These improvements help reduce development times and speed up the start-up of new projects.
